More LG OLED TV users are reporting power cycling issues triggered by bright flashes on screen, affecting multiple models and content types. Users on the r/LGOLED subreddit have documented the issue across various games and streaming services, indicating a broader scope than previously understood.
Reports surfaced regarding a user identified as u/RandomGamer414, who experienced power cycling on their LG G5 while playing the game Cronos: The New Dawn, citing a bright muzzle flash as the cause. Previous reports highlighted similar occurrences, such as user u/yorgo332’s LG C1 shutting down during bright flashes from weapons in Resident Evil Requiem.
The problem appears not to be limited to specific games. Other titles mentioned by users include Halo 4, Rocket League, The Division 2, and Borderlands 3. Additionally, some users reported issues while streaming content on services like Netflix and Hulu, though gaming-related incidents predominate.

This issue spans a range of models, from the LG C9 (2019) to the LG G5 (2022) and includes the LG CX (2020) and LG B4 (2024). Despite these reports, many LG OLED users, including those with the G5, have indicated they have not experienced the problem. TechRadar, which routinely tests various LG OLED models, stated it has not encountered this issue with the G5, C5, or B5 during their assessments.
The precise cause of the power cycling event is still undetermined. Potential explanations include a malfunctioning power unit or issues with the panels themselves. In an effort to resolve the problem, users have suggested replacing HDMI cables or lowering the TV’s brightness to mitigate the bright flashes. However, a definitive solution has yet to emerge.
