Music streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube Music are now the primary platforms for music consumption, overshadowing traditional album purchases. Deezer reports that AI-generated music is rapidly increasing, approaching 50% of all new uploads.
This trend highlights the growing infiltration of AI music into playlists, complicating the listening experience for users. Deezer’s technology is designed to identify and label AI content, an effort rarely matched by other streaming services.
According to Deezer, 44% of all uploads are AI-generated tracks, equating to approximately 75,000 new AI songs added daily. The company states that most listeners of these AI streams are themselves AI, further blurring the line between human-created and AI-produced music.

One challenge in recognizing AI tracks lies in their similarity to over-produced human songs. A Deezer survey revealed that 97% of participants could not distinguish between two AI songs and one human-made track.
Deezer emphasizes its unique position in the market because it explicitly labels AI-generated content. The company licenses its AI detection technology to third parties and claims it has achieved a false positive rate of less than 0.01%.
